Update: 17 lbs

Wow, I'm really inconsistent with this blogging business.... and this weightloss business.  I'm up to a total loss of 17lbs.  Not bad but I would have liked to have done this faster and be up to a 30lbs loss by now.  But... I am still taking my Advocare MNS supplements and I'm eating 3 decent meals a day with no sodas, plenty of water, and nutritous snacks.  The only excercise I've been getting is running these 4 boys around and keeping up with the little two at baseball practice.  I just have not been good at sticking to an excercise routine.  But, I am doing better than I was when I started this journey.  I have lost weight, I feel better, and my clothes fit better... I'm down a pant size.  I'm thankful I held on to a little bit of my "skinny" clothes as I gained weight so I didn't have to go buy new clothes during all these transitions.  Now I've got to make myself throw out my "fat" clothes!  Yay!

Can You 24?

Okay, I bought the new Advocare Workout Series when it first came out.  I did the Melt 1 today for the first time.  Withs my kids. We ALL loved it!  We all got our heart rate up, red cheeks, and breathing hard.  Felt great!  I really think it's good for the whole family.  There are 3 people doing everything at different levels so you can choose to follow the beginner, the intermediate, or the expert.  It was a good workout with options easy enough for my 8 and 10 year old boys... well, to be honest I should say easy enough for ME and my 8 year old boy, lol.  The 10 year old jumped right in and did the expert workout.  My two little ones, 3 years and 1 year watched and participated on their own level... so cute!  We'll be going through the different workouts this week as we have added this to our homeschool physical education.  Once we get good at this disc, we'll move up to Disc 2 which will be the same goals as Disc 1 but more advanced.

I definitely recommend this for anyone!  I'll update you after we do more of the workouts!  Click HERE to read more or to purchase.

Update

I haven't been staying on track but I got back to business a couple of days ago and I finally lost another pound... for a total of 11lbs.  My goal is to lose at least 4 more before Christmas.  Ideally I'd like to lose more but I'm being realistic...  it's difficult not to eat sweets this time of year (just ask the box of caramel pecan turtles my dad brought me Sunday... thanks Dad!).  Having the shakes to supplement at least one meal a day and the MNS Max 3 supplements make it easier to keep losing anyway.  If you're doing the advocare challenge, feel free to check in and let me know how it's going!

Thanksgiving

Yesterday morning my 4 boys, aunt, cousin, and I got up before the sun... not to bake for Thanksgiving but to go do the local 5K Turkey Trot. The plan was for me to push the two little ones in our double jogger and for Aunt Pam to walk with me while Allex ran ahead with the older two boys.  My goal was to not finish last. Haha!  That was seriously my biggest fear.  It has been taking us about a an hour and twenty minutes to walk the 5K length at home.  Well, the boys and Allex ran ahead and finished it in 44 minutes!  Allex is use to running and kept them at a steady pace... they had not ever run anything more than a mile so I was impressed!  With all the encouragement from Aunt Pam and the roadside cheerleaders I did run some and we took turns with the stroller and finished the 5K in 52 minutes!  I was stoked!  We did great.  I felt great.  I can't wait to do it again.  And....  Even though I ate myself miserable with loads of carbs and some fried foods yesterday, I am happy to report that I did not gain any of my weight back!  I'm thinking I need to do a 5K every Thanksgiving morning and maybe even one during Christmas week since we tend to overdo the not so healthy foods then, too!  I'm so thankful for all the support I've had in this journey to get fit, for my family & friends, for the Turkey Trot, and for Advocare.

Chip Junkie

Chips... any kind but especially those that come with a bowl of hot sauce... are my crack.  I am a chip junkie.  I like a good breadstick and a slab of cornbread slathered in butter but I can control myself with those.  I can limit myself to 1 serving.  But not with chips.  What does this mean for my eating healthier, smaller portions?  It means that for the challenge I did not buy any chips. They were not allowed in my house except for the one time my inlaws came over for burgers and my mother-n-law brought her awesome homemade hot sauce and tortilla chips.  I ate more than my fair share but thankfully my husband had the wits about him to send them home with the leftover chips even though they offered to leave them here. Phew... that would have been disasterous.

I did buy chips this week for the kids to have with lunches.  I learned real quick that it would be much easier for me to follow my new eating habits of limiting my carbs to complex carbs and with only one meal a day if I skipped lunch.  Lunch is easy for me to skip.  Easier than breakfast or supper.  But it is also the worst meal of the day for me if I'm going to eat it.  At home anyway... eating out I can be good and order a salad or some other nutritious option.  But at home, we are a sandwich and chips kind of family.  I'd rather save my carbs for a small bowl of (stovetop popped) popcorn at snack time or for my sweet potato or brown rice at dinner.  So for now, I'll be having my daily shake at lunch time.  I will allow myself the occasional "cheat" day where I indulge in a (hopefully) small bowl of chips and hot sauce.  But those cheats will be few and far between!

If I can do this, YOU can too.

Day 24!!!

Today is Day 24!!  My goal was to lose 10lbs.  I didn't know what to expect in regards to inches so I just put 5".. hoping to at least lose an inch here and there.  Well today is the big day so I got up, emptied my bladder (I wouldn't dare step on a scale before doing that) and weighed.  I was slightly bummed when the scale said 9lbs.  I mean, that's great!  But I had a goal of 10lbs.  Did that halloween candy I snuck or those chips I ate with my mother-n-laws amazing salsa keep me from getting that one more pound?  Maybe so.  But, I measured and have dropped a total of 13 inches!  Yes, you read that right, 13!!!  So here I am drinking my first Coffeccino (just made it to my list of favorite Advocare products) in celebration of a huge loss!  Or Win!!  Go me!  I can deal with missing that one pound with a decrease in inches like that.

So what next you ask?  I'm going to go cook myself up 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon for breakfast.  Oh... umm, I'm going to continue the MNS Max 3, continue with only having carbs (complex) at 1 meal a day, snacking on healthy things like nuts, veggies, and fruits and for breakfast either a mocha shake or something high protein depending on what I feel like...I really enjoy my eggs for breakfast.  And excercise.  I am going to keep doing my walking and hopefully one day I'll blog about being able to jog a mile without stopping.

My next goal.... I don't have a specific weight or inches goal in mind yet.  I do need to lose at least another 50lbs which is going to take a while.  But my next goal is to go down a pant size.  I originally thought I should have already but then I remembered how tight (second skin tight) all my jeans were when I started.  They now all fit comfortably, and even a little loose in some areas.  So... goal #2, smaller pants!

Turkey Trot, Here I Come!

I finally got up to my goal.... I walked 3.4 miles pushing J & K in the double stroller!  Now I just have to get to where I can jog at least part of it by Thanksgiving!  I feel great!
